Atiyyah told the press that the meeting tackled a number of recommendations "which we are going to brief you on them before the forthcoming GCC summit meeting in Kuwait mid-December 2009". He said the meeting also dealt with some matters of concern to the current situations, citing the condolences of the GCC leaders to the leadership of Bahrain on the demise of Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Khalifa. He described as "welcome" Qatar"s move to remove obstacles once hindering those practicing economic, commercial and investment activities in Qatar. He confirmed that the meeting expressed strong support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, against hostile actions on its southern border and the Kingdom"s right to defend its territories and citizens, noting that any harm against Saudi Arabia is detrimental to its GCC sister countries. He quoted Prince Saud Al-Faisal as telling the story of what has happened and how it came to an end after the Saudi armed forces controlled of the situation at the border. Al-Atiyyah also confirmed the support of the GCC for Yemen"s unity and stability, rejecting interference in its domestic affairs. On the other hand, the GCC welcomed the long-awaited formation of a national unity government in Lebanon, wishing it every success. --More
