The General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) welcomed the Quartet Arab summit which was held here Wednesday evening in order to "clear the air" and achieve Arab reconciliation. Secretary-General of the GCC Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Atiyyah commended the vital and important role undertaken by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in supporting the Arab solidarity. "In this context, the efforts exerted by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques are yet another confirmation that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is pushing the current Arab situation of fragmentation to the prospects of coordination, cooperation and solidarity", Al-Atiyyah added. Al-Atiyyah pointed out to the initiative launched at Kuwaiti Summit by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to achieve reconciliation between the brothers, stressing the wisdom and right vision enjoyed by the Saudi Monarch in addressing the major challenges. The Secretary-General of the GCC made clear that the good offices which are currently being undertaken by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, gain now additional importance as it comes on the eve of the forthcoming Arab summit which will be held in Doha, towards which the peoples of the Arab Ummah (Nation) attach a lot of hopes and expectations in the support of the crucial issues, particularly the Palestinian issue.
