The total tonnage handled in all Saudi Ports during the first half of 2009 reached around 68.07 Million Tonnes, with a decreased of 8.68% over the same period of the previous year ( Imports decreased by 20.73%, Exports decreased by 1.02% ). The total cargo handled in all 8 Saudi ports including Jeddah Islamic Port, King Abdulaziz Port, Dammam, King Fahad Industrial Port, Yanbu,Yanbu Commercial Port, King Fahad Industrial Port, Jubail, Jubail Commercial Port, Jizan Port and Dhiba Port amounted to 86,072,153 tons showing a decrease of 8.68 per cent compared to 73, 982, 238 tons in the same period of 2008. The latest Saudi Port statistics showed that the total cargo handled including Discharged and Loaded in the same period amounted to 26,470,052 tons of commodities-discharged showing a 20.73 percentage decline compared to 31,957,502 commodities-discharged during the same period in 2008, showing a decline of 1.02 per cent accounting for 41,602,101 tons compared to 42,024,736 tons in the same years. --MORE
