The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu today expressed his strong condemnation of the criminal bombings that targeted several convoys east of Karbala, which killed dozens of people and wounded innocent Iraqi citizens. In a statement issued here this morning, he stressed the OIC's outrage for the continuation of such criminal practices and sabotage, which killed at least 159 Iraqis in a matter of one week. He appealed to the Iraqi people of all sects and walks of life to adhere to Makkah Document of the year 2006 sponsored by the Organization of the Islamic Conference, that contained an accord between Sunni and Shiite clerics and scholars in Iraq to renounce violence and extremism. The OIC Chief also urged the Iraqi people to come together and work to maintain unity and to address the heinous terrorist acts against the security and stability of Iraq.
