Two F-16 fighter-jets of the US Air Force have collided off the coast of South Carolina, with one pilot still missing, dpa quoted local media as reporting today. The website of the WYFF4 broadcaster quoted Air Force spokesman Robert Sexton, from the Shaw Air Force Base, as saying that the two aircraft collided at around 8:30 PM Thursday (0030 Friday GMT), off Folly Beach near the city of Charleston, during a training exercise. Sexton said a fighter piloted by Captain Lee Bryant landed safely at Charleston Air Force Base, but the location of the other fighter piloted by Captain Nicholas Giglio is unknown. It was unclear if the second pilot had managed to eject from his jet. The air force is carrying out a search for the Giglio.
