Three suspected members of the militant Basque separatist group ETA who were detained in France are probably not linked to the recent killing of two police officers on the holiday island of Majorca, the daily El Mundo on Thursday quoted police sources as saying, according to dpa. The three, who were held responsible for supplying ETA cells with arms and explosives, were held in the French Alps on Wednesday. They were identified as ETA's logistics chief Aitzol Etxaburu, Alberto Machain and Andoni Sarasola. Machain was among the six most wanted ETA members whose photos were distributed by the Interior Ministry following bombings that injured about 65 people in the northern city of Burgos and killed two police officers on Majorca in late July. Police believed that Etxaburu's predecessors had given orders to the Majorca bombers, El Mundo said. On August 9, suspected ETA members also detonated four smaller bombs on Majorca, without causing injuries.
