A pile-up involving four trucks and a car on an east China highway left three people dead on Wednesday, Xinhua reported. Traffic police said the two trucks rear-ended another truck at around 2 p.m. on the Nanjing section of a highway that links Hanghzou city, Zhejiang Province, and Nanjing city, in Jiangsu Province. A fourth truck swerved to avoid the accident and crashed through a central barrier, colliding head on with an oncoming car, said police. The driver and a passenger in the car and a passenger in the truck died in the collision. The other people involved in the pile-up suffered minor injuries, said traffic police. Traffic police from Nanjing are still investigating the cause of the accident. The highway was closed after the crash and reopened at 3:30 p.m.
