ON-DON, Russia, July 19, SPA -- Police in Russia's violence-prone Ingushetia province say gunmen have opened fire on the home of an elite-police chief, killing his sister and wounding him and other family members. The interior ministry branch in Ingushetia reports that four unidentified assailants laid siege to the house near the capital overnight. They fired grenades and automatic rifle rounds at the house near Nazran before fleeing, the Associated Press reported. The police chief, Timur Ekazhev, and four other family members received nonfatal shrapnel wounds. No arrests were announced.
