The UN Security Council joined Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Friday to strongly condemn the bombing of two hotels in Jakarta which killed nine people, according to dpa. The 15-nation council held an open meeting to issue a statement condemning "in the strongest terms" the terrorist attacks. "The Security Council reaffirms that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitute one of the most serious threats to international peace and security," the statement said. It said acts terrorism are "criminal and unjustifiable" regardless of the motivation. Ban expressed confidence that the Indonesian government will promptly investigate the attack and bring the perpetrators to justice with the same resolve demonstrated in previous acts of terrorism in Indonesia. Ban extended his condolences to the families of the victims and expressed his solidarity with the government and people of Indonesia.
