The U.N. Security Council on Wednesday strongly condemned the series of bomb attacks that took place in India's economic capital of Mumbai Tuesday night, killing more than 200 and injuring 700. U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan also condemned the attacks. “The Security Council underlines the need to bring the perpetrators, organizers, financiers, and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism to justice,” the Security Council said in a statement. The council also called on member states to assist with India's investigation of the bombings. “The Security Council reaffirms that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security, and that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever, and by whomsoever committed,” the council said. Annan also voiced his condemnation of the attacks, saying, “such acts cannot possibly be excused by any grievance.”
