Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Atiyyah, Secretary General of the Riyadh-based Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) said the first GCC-Turkish ministerial meeting which concluded its deliberation in Istanbul, Turkey, earlier today, constitutes a chance between Turkey and the GCC member states for further consultation and coordination in the overall political regional and international issues of concern to the two parties. In an interview with KUNA following the meeting, Al-Atiyyah said the first strategic meeting between the GCC and Turkey discussed a number of important issues on the regional and international levels, particularly the Palestinian issue. He quoted the final communiqué as urging for bringing about fair and comprehensive peace in the region and supporting a two-state solution in Palestine with the Palestinian state having Al-Quds as its capital.
