The Higher Supervisory Committee of the International Conference on the Phenomenon of Takfir (Labeling People as Infidels) held its first meeting in Madinah today. The convening of the meeting was based on approval by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to hold the conference under his patronage. The conference is organized by Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Prize for the Prophet's Tradition and Contemporary Islamic Studies with participation by Imam Mohammad bin Saud Islamic University during this year in Madinah. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Saed Alharthi, the Advisor to Second Deputy Premier and Interior Minister and chairman of the Higher Supervisory Committee, said the conference will discuss causes, effects and remedy of the phenomenon of takfir. He added that conference will host officials and scholars from around the world to discuss various aspects of takfir.
