Quds city (JERUSALEM), June 10, SPA -- U.S. Mideast envoy George Mitchell, who is in the Middle East to try and kick-start the peace process, will meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Wednesday morning. The meeting will take place in the West Bank city of Ramallah, the seat of the Palestinian Authority, CNN reported. Mitchell has been dispatched to the region as U.S. President Barack Obama seeks a prompt resumption of the stalled talks. He capped a day of meetings Tuesday with a four-hour visit with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The two men covered a broad range of issues, the prime minister's spokesman said. After leaving Israel, Mitchell will visit Lebanon and spend two days in Syria. Mitchell's visit is a follow-up to President Barack Obama's speech to the Muslim world last week in Cairo, Egypt, and part of his policy to pursue a "broad-based, comprehensive peace dealing with all the regional players."
