The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has awarded prizes to three scientific institutions from Malaysia, Bangladesh, and Turkey in recognition of their distinguished efforts in the scientific field. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the President of the Bank Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Ali pointed out that the winning institutions of the Bank's Prizes for Science and Technology in 2009 are the University of Petra in Malaysia; Department of Physics at University of the Middle East for Technology in Turkey and International Center for Diarrheal Disease Research in Bangladesh. It is noteworthy that the Bank's Prizes for Science and Technology in three categories were founded in 2001 and each winner is awarded $ 100,000 as well as a Certificate of Merit.
