Turkish officials say seven Kurdish rebels have been killed in a clash with security forces in southeastern part of the country. A statement from the government's office Saturday said a government-paid militiaman helping Turkish troops was also killed during the skirmish in the mainly Kurdish town of Eruh. Security forces launched the operation Friday following a mine explosion that targeted the militia force, Associated Press reported.
