The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, will attend the opening session of the 19th Conference of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), starting its deliberations later today in Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates. The Secretary General will deliver a speech at the opening session of the conference that will shed light on the role of the IIFA in enriching collective Ijtihad [interpretation], being a key source of Islamic law interpretation for the Muslim Ummah [nation]. The opening ceremony of the IIFA Conference will be hosted at the University of Sharjah with the participation of about 200 Muslim scholars and jurists, according to a press release of the OIC issued here yesterday.
