Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz, Acting Governor of Riyadh Region and Chairman of the Anti Smoking Charitable Association (ASCA), will patronize an International Forum on Anti- smoking efforts and experiences from April 20 to 22 at Makarem Auditorium, Riyadh Marriott. The Forum aims to address six axes. They include a review on the successes of the human spirit in anti-smoking and the serious danger of smoking to human lives; the transformation of the world's pioneering experiences to programs and activities to reduce the growing phenomenon of smoking in the Kingdom; access to community-based intervention programs that have proved useful in some countries and its application within the strategic plan to combat smoking and psychotropic substances, said Suleiman Abdulrahman Al Sabbi, the Secretary General of ASCA. In addition to this, the Forum will benefit from global experiences in the trial of the companies producing and promoting tobacco as well as exposing citizens to ideas and experiences that protect them from the negative effects of smoking, he said. He added that the idea of the Forum was arranged three years ago as part of a Smoke-Free Riyadh Campaign which is part of a huge campaign launched earlier in order to make the city of Riyadh free of smoking through the expansion of the awareness campaigns and treatment programs.
