Prince Sattam Bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Emir of Riyadh, opened a three-day international anti-smoking forum here on Monday. The forum organized by Anti-Smoking Charitable Association (ASCA) in cooperation with the Ministry of Health will review the pioneering international experiences which could help Saudi Arabia to address the issue of growing trend of smoking in the country. Other issues to be discussed include the hazardous effects of smoking, the strategic planning to create awareness among the citizens against smoking, community-based intervention programs that proved useful in some countries and the ways and means to combat smoking and the use of other psychotropic substances.
