Visiting President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete of the Republic of Tanzania received at his guest residence in Riyadh today the Secretary General of the Riyadh-based Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Atiyyah. Following the meeting, Al-Atiyyah said that ways of enhancing relations between the Republic of Tanzania and the GCC member states in the political, economic, commercial, and industrial and food security fields were discussed. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Al-Atiyyah said that the two sides expressed keenness to foster relations between the GCC and SADC, thanks to the historical and distinguished relations between the two blocs and strong will of their leaders. He said the Palestinian issue and the piracy in the African horn region were reviewed. The meeting was attended by the President's official accompanying delegation.
