Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Asir Region, patronized here today the official inauguration ceremony of the International Forum on Volunteer Work 2009. Prince Faisal also opened an exhibition held on the sidelines of the Forum. Then, Prince Faisal toured the exhibition and was briefed on its contents. Then, the Secretary General of the Forum Dr. Ihab Hassan Abu Rukba delivered a speech in which he said that the Forum is first of its kind in the Middle East and aims to develop the culture of volunteer work. He also pointed out that the Forum included more than 30 working papers, scientific dialogue sessions and three workshops held over three days. More than 40 academic experts representing 16 countries participated in the Forum. Then, the Deputy Director General of King Khalid Foundation Riyadh Al Abdulkarim in which he highlighted the importance of volunteer work and its positive results for the individual and society. Then, the Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Yousif Al-Uthaymeen delivered a speech in which he stressed that the Saudi Government has given the social work most of its care. --More
