Two agreements were signed in Amman Today under which the German government extended 92.5 million euros (122.8 million dollars) in economic aid to Jordan, dpa quoted an official statement as saying. The two accords, part of the German development cooperation programme with Jordan for the fiscal year 2008-2009, were signed by the Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Suhair al-Ali and the German ambassador in Amman Joachim Heidorn. They involved 84 million euros in soft loans and 8.5 million euros in grants that will be used for financing priority projects in the fields of water, sanitary sewerage, education and financial management reforms, al-Ali said. The new aid brings to 228 million euros the total concessionary loans and grants extended by Germany to Jordan since 2002.
