The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, lauded the five resolutions issued by the tenth regular session of the Human Rights Council (HRC), condemning the grave violations of human rights by Israel in the occupied Arab territories. The HRC tenth session has issued five resolutions submitted by the Islamic Group in coordination with the Arab Group, on Israel's severe violations of human rights in the occupied territories. The resolutions draw on the following: - The human rights situation in the occupied Syrian Golan. - Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including the eastern part of Al-Quds, and in the occupied Syrian Golan. - The human rights violations emanating from the Israeli military attacks in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, especially the recent Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. - The right of the Palestinian people to self-determination. - The follow-up to HRC resolution S-9/1 on the grave violations of human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, particularly due to the recent Israeli military attacks against the occupied Gaza Strip. The Secretary General also commended the unflinching efforts deployed by the Geneva-based Islamic Group, which has succeeded, thanks to its well-conducted and coordinated endeavors and tireless work, in securing the issuance of the five resolutions. The resolutions constitute, indeed, an international condemnation of Israeli crimes, violations, and illegal practices in the occupied territories. Ihsanoglu pointed out that this denunciation should be a further incentive for the international community to hold Israel accountable for the violations it perpetrates and to refer Israeli war criminals to international justice to answer for their crimes.
