Presided over by Member of Human Rights Commission Board in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr. Ibrahim Abdulaziz Al-Sheddi, the 24th session of the Arab Permanent Committee for Human Rights started today at the Arab League with the participation of representatives from all Arab countries. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) today, Al-Sheddi said that the Committee will discuss over four days a number of issues relating to human rights in the Arab world. He pointed out that the first issue to be discussed is the Israeli violations of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories and the occupied Arab Syrian Golan. He also said that Israel continues to violate human rights in Gaza and the occupied Arab territories. The delegations condemned these criminal violations of the rights of Palestinian people in spite of all the international laws that emphasize respect for human rights. Al-Sheddi stressed that the committee will issue recommendations on these violations to be referred to Arab foreign ministers that call on Arab League to coordinate with regional and international organizations concerned with human rights. He added that the Committee discussed today the implementation of Arab Charter on Human Rights following the ratification by seven Arab countries, the minimum for implementing the Charter.
