Presided over by its chairman Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Asheikh, the Shoura Council held today its 9th session. At the outset of the session, Dr. Al Asheikh lauded the speech delivered by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud last Tuesday saying that "we were honored by the King's presence who gave a speech that was well-received regionally and internationally". He added that the speech "addressed a number of political, economic, humanitarian and intellectual issues" giving it a "universally comprehensive significance". He also congratulated Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz on his new appointment as Second Deputy Premier. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Council's Secretary General Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Ghamdi said that the Council started discussing the proposed amendment of phrase (6) of Article (3) pertaining to civil and military retirement as well as social insurance systems. He also added the Council studied the report proposed by the Committee for Security Affairs on the increased number of car accidents and deaths urging that it be urgently addressed. Dr. Al Ghamdi also added that the Council approved the signing of a memorandum of scientific cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education and its Djibouti counterpart. He also added that the Council will hold further discussions on a number of reports and drafts during its next session.
