The Muslim World League (MWL) has expressed concern and anxiety over the International Criminal Court's decision pertaining the arrest warrant of Sudanese President Omar al-Basheer. In a statement issued here today, Its Secretary General Dr Abdullah bin Abdul-Mohsin Al-Turki said the MWL considers this decision as a dangerous precedent and a clear intervention in the internal affairs of an independent country. Dr Al-Turki noted that targeting Al-Basheer constitutes ignorance towards the immunity enjoyed by the Heads of States as stipulated in Vienna treaty issued in 1961. Dr Al-Turki said the decision of the ICC will have an adverse impact on the unity and security of Sudan, adding that it will undermine the on-going efforts to realize peace in Darfur province and will also undermine the province's security and stability. --MORE
