Dollar up, gold rises in afternoon trading

The U.S. dollar was
higher against other major currencies in European trading
Today afternoon, according to AP.
Gold rose and the euro traded at $1.2576, down
from $1.2781 late Monday in New York.
Other dollar rates:
_92.23 Japanese yen, up from 91.72
_1.1742 Swiss francs, up from 1.1610
_1.2603 Canadian dollars, up from 1.2439
The British pound was quoted at $1.4229, down from
$1.4270.
Gold traded in London at $968.00 per troy ounce, up from
$942.50 late Monday.
