The 8th Islamic Information Ministers Conference concluded here today. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's delegation to the two-day conference was led by Minister of Culture and Information Iyad bin Ameen Madani. At the conclusion of the Conference, the participants issued the "Rabat Declaration" including the future trends in the field of joint Islamic action in the information sector and ways of developing the performance of the Islamic countries' media organs in light of the great challenges facing the Arab and Islamic Ummah (nation). The Rabat Declaration stressed the need to revive the distinctive role of the media organs in Muslim countries in exposing the brutal Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip. It urged for continuous highlighting of the legitimate struggle of the Palestinian people, back it until the establishment of its independent state with holy Al-Quds as its capital and the evacuation of the Israeli occupation of Arab territories. The Rabat Declaration also called on the media organs to commit to support all efforts exerted to achieve the national unity of the Palestinian people and to refrain from any behavior that would fuel the differences and divisions in its ranks. --More
