Saudi newspapers commented today on the telephone call received by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz from US President Barack Obama. In his call, Obama highlighted the bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States and affirmed that the Saudi-American relations are deep-rooted, strong and ever-growing. The newspapers pointed out that Obama in his call had stressed the importance of the Kingdom at the regional and international arenas as well as its role in enhancing the global stability and security. The call came at a time when King Abdullah made it clear that the Arab initiative would not remain open indefinitely and that it was a message to the US president that chances of peace will shrink in the light of the Israeli intransigence. "It is hoped that the call will pave the way for the revival of the peace process in the region," it said, noting that peace constitutes one of the major pillars of the Kingdom's policy. --MORE
