The Saudi newspapers resumed today their comment on the Arab economic summit due to be inaugurated in Kuwait today, and said a great importance is being attached to the summit because it is convened at a time when the Arab nation is facing difficult political and economic challenges, notably the Israeli savage aggression on Gaza and the global financial crisis and its adverse impact on the economies of the region. The papers noted that these challenges make it necessary to enhance joint cooperation among the Arab countries in all domains notably the economic domain. The papers drew attention to the fact that the convening of the economic summit comes after the extraordinary gulf summit called by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and also after the international summit held in Sharam-al-sheikh yesterday. It is hoped that the summit will introduce a new mechanism for joint Arab work for the salvation of the current Arab situation, the papers said. The papers underscored the importance of reconstruction of Gaza, enhancing the Arab solidarity and work for solution of the economic problems. --more
