The Saudi Project for Utilization of Hajj Meat has set a new record in terms of the number of coupons sold during the recently ended Hajj season (1429H). Pilgrims are said to have bought up to 873, 255 coupons for sheep as well as 3, 226 coupons for camels and cows. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Ali said that the process of sacrificing the sheep, camels and cows had been undertaken in the specified time-frame in accordance with the Sharia Law. "As many as 91, 550 sheep sacrifices and an approximate number of 1, 289 camels and cows were distributed among the pilgrims and the needy who reside in Makkah and Saudi charity societies as well as to 25 poor Islamic countries around the world. This came in line with the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz and the Crown Prince. It's worth mentioning that the number of the slaughtered sheep totaled 762, 422 in the Hajj season of 1428H.
