Herzegovina, October 05, SPA -- Bosnians voted in local elections Sunday after a campaign heavy with nationalist rhetoric. Final turnout was unclear, but three hours before polls closed at 7 p.m. (1700GMT) it was 44.54 percent of the country's 3 million voters, election commission head Suad Arnautovic said. The local elections were the fourth held since Bosnia's 1992-95 war. Bosnians were choosing 140 mayors and members of 149 city councils throughout the ethnically divided country.
