A speeding bus crashed into a roadside tent where villagers were watching television early Thursday in northern India, killing 16 people and injuring another 12. The driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn in Tandaspur village in Bihar state's Sitamarhi district, said Vijay Kumar, a local magistrate. The driver fled the scene after the crash, Kumar said. Twelve people died on the spot and four others succumbed to injuries in a hospital, he said. The 12 injured, two of them in critical condition, have been hospitalized, Kumar told The Associated Press.
