A wildfire Thursday forced the preventative evacuation of about 1,000 people from urban areas near the south-western Spanish port of Algeciras, rescuers said, according to DPA. More than 200 people using 17 aircraft or helicopters managed to stabilize the fire, which devastated 480 hectares of scrub and forest, including parts of a nature park. Regional Prime Minister Manuel Chaves said arson was suspected.
