The Fourth Regional Conference on Medical Journals in the Eastern Mediterranean, will be held from November 5 to 7, under the patronage of Bahraini Health Minister Dr Faisal Al Hamer. It is being organized by the Journal of the Bahrain Medical Society (JBMS) in collaboration with the World Health Organization Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean (WHO-EMRO) and the Eastern Mediterranean Association of Medical Editors (EMAME). Eighty delegates from across the world have so far registered for the conference, which is supported by the ministries of Health and Information, according to a report carried today by the Manama-based Gulf Daily. The conference is held under the theme, Research and Publication are Cornerstones of Health Care Development in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. The aim is to promote editorship, authorship and peer review of medical journals in the eastern Mediterranean region, along with enhancement of medical research production in the region. The conference will be preceded by pre-conference workshops on medical writing and medical statistics to support all health professionals and doctors in publishing research. This is in addition to other workshops during the conference.
