The Preparatory committee of the First Regional Conference on Islamic medicine started its session here today under the patronage of Hussein A. Gezairy, the Regional Director of W.H.O Regional Office for Eastern Mediterranean (EMRO). The Three-day Conference will focus on giving top concern to reviving Arabic and Islamic Traditional medicine, modernizing its methods, discovery, economic and developmental potentials and their exploitation for the benefit of the mankind, said a statement released here today by the Committee. "Arab and Islamic medicine depends primarily on the richness of the Arab region, its distinctive wide-spread bio-diversity and vegetation," the Statement added. The conference also aims at highlighting the importance of the development of treatment, using herbs which will help develop Islamic Arab medicine and works to increase its contribution to the development of methods of modern medicine. Many of the Arab , Islamic states and the European delegations will participate in this conference.
