A student was shot dead by a classmate on Thursday in a Tennessee high school, Xinhua quoted authorities as saying. Police said the shooting happened shortly after school hours started in the morning at the Central High School in Knoxville when the victim and the suspect, both 16 years old, had a dispute in cafeteria. Knoxville police spokesman Darrel DeBusk told reporters that the suspect has been arrested just six minutes after police received the report about the shooting. "A gun was recovered and that suspect was being transported to the police department and is being interviewed," he said. The shot student died at a local hospital due to his fatal wound, he added. After the shooting, the school was placed on lockdown and ready to dismiss all students, officials said.
