A university student was shot and killed Wednesday at a bookstore near Wesleyan University in Connecticut, and police said the gunman was at large. The victim of the shoot was not initially identified, though officials confirmed she was a student. A gun was recovered at the scene, the university said in a statement. Officials sent text messages, emails and voice mail messages to university students and faculty to alert them to the situation. The city's Mayor Sebastian Giuliano said he did not believe the public was in danger. “It was focused. This wasn't random from what I can tell,” Giuliano said. “Somebody went into a bookstore and fired multiple shots at one person.” Officials at a nearby school ordered the building on lockdown as a precaution.
