The General Secretariat Commission of the Federation of Arab News Agencies concluded its first annual meeting here today. During the meetings, the Commission was briefed on the report on the World Conference for Dialogue which was held in Madrid, Spain, and adopted by Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Commission studied the text of the speech of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at the conference in which the Monarch stressed the commonalities between the followers of all religions and advancing the value of dialogue. It also reviewed the text of Madrid Declaration of the Conference and its principles enshrined in its contents for the benefit of humanity, dialogue and reason. The Commission also discussed how Arab news agencies promote the ideas put forth at this conference and consolidate its concepts through enlightened journalistic work. It recommended the General Secretariat to take ideas and opinions put forth in the final statement of the conference as guidance when dealing with news and work to promote those principles serving the entire humanity. The Commission valued the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud aiming at spreading the culture of dialogue and spirit of tolerance among human societies. The Commission issued a number of recommendations, including among others frequent organization of training workshops to develop the abilities of editors in news agencies and to improve the quality of economic news.
