Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan are discussing the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict at the Russian leader's Meiendorf residence outside Moscow, according to Itar-Tass. Turkey plans to propose a number of initiatives aimed at overcoming the crisis, Turkish mass media report. This is the first meeting between the Russian president and the Turkish prime minister. Several hours before the meeting, Turkish President Abdullah Gul supported Medvedev's decisions regarding the resolution of the crisis in South Ossetia, including those worked out during negotiations with French President Nicolas Sarkozy in Moscow. Gul called Medvedev earlier in the day to discuss the issue, the presidential press service said.
