In line with directives by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to develop the reformatories affiliated to the General Directorate of Prisons and provide them with the necessary facilities to achieve their national goals, the designing of a strategic project aiming at the establishment of seven central reformatories as a first phase has been completed recently. Each reformatory will accommodate 7500 inmates at an area of 2,250,000 square meters. This was stated by Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Interior Minister and President of the Prisons' Supreme Council. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency, he highlighted the design of these reformatories saying they will have the necessary facilities to reform and rehabilitate the prisoners adding that the measures to begin the implementation of these projects have started and they will be completed soon.
