DAMMAM: Prisons in the Kingdom are places where the behavior of inmates is corrected, said Dr. Ali Bin Hussein Al-Harthi, Director General of Prisons, in a lecture at King Fahd Security College recently. Al-Harthi explained that prisoners can also get education up to university stage at these facilities. His lecture was on the future strategy of the General Directorate of Prisons. Training and cultural activities are provided, as well as sport activities, he said, noting the directorate is building new facilities so that programs are implemented correctly. Meanwhile, next Sunday in Dammam, a meeting of the executive committee of the Prisoners Rehabilitation Incubator project will take place. Discussions will be held on ways to promote, implement and plan the project. The incubator project is being carried out by the Prince Muhammad Bin Fahd Foundation for Humanitarian Development. Dr. Issa Bin Hasan Al-Ansari, Adviser to Prince Muhammad Bin Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz, Emir of Eastern Province, said the project will benefit 300 people – those released from prisons, correctional facilities and Al-Amal Hospital – in its first phase. He said Prince Muhammad has ordered that the project benefits as many people as possible. The number of beneficiaries will increase in the second and third phases, Al-Ansari said. “The executive committee is determined to generate new ideas and experiences that contribute to serve society in the region.”
