Officials said an explosion at a sawmill in northwestern Romania has injured 23 workers, AP reported. Police said the explosion occurred in a sawdust dryer inside the Transylvania Industry plant early Saturday. National news agency Agerpres said that firefighters were called to the mill in the town of Gheorgheni to extinguish a fire that broke out following the explosion. Geza Jeszanesky, director of the Gheorgheni hospital, said 21 people were being treated at hospitals for burns. He said six of the injured were transferred to the regional burns hospital. Two other workers did not require hospital treatment. An investigation into the cause of the accident is under way.
