A Romanian official says three people have been injured in an explosion and fire at a tire factory in northern Romania, as AP reported. Emergency situations chief Ioan Burlui says the three people were repairing a tire re-treading machine at the time of Thursday's blast in the northern county of Suceava. He said the explosion was probably caused by a spark that set off inflammable tire dust. The injured were taken by helicopter to a Bucharest hospital to be treated for burns. Burlui says the fire has been extinguished.
