A Saudi medical team from The Prince Sultan Cardiac Center, an affiliate of The Armed Forces Medical Services headed by Dr. Huwaida Al-Qathami, the Chief of the cardiac surgery centre arrived here today to conduct a number of heart operations at Al-Thawrah General Hospital in Sanaa. In an arrival statement, Dr. Huwaida said the visit comes under the framework of cooperation between the two countries in health and scientific fields, pointing out that the operations that would be conducted by the medical team comprising 39 specialists, include surgeries for congenital heart defects (CHD) in newborn and premature infants, in addition to adult patients who suffer congenital defects. She also said that medical tests had been conducted for nearly 160 patients in preparation for the operations so far completed. In addition, 180 other patients will undergo similar tests during the upcoming days, reiterating that the medical team is keen on undertaking the largest possible number of operations. She pointed out to arrival of two aircraft carrying the specialized equipment, tools and medicines for conducting such complex surgeries. --MORE
