A Saudi medical team, specialized in cardiac diseases, started to check patients in Al-Thowarah hospital today, paving the way for performing some 165 open heart operations for Yemeni patients. Dr. Ahmed Qasem Al-Anasi, Manager of the Sanaa-based hospital, said the surgical operations to be performed over a month come within the current health cooperation between the two countries. The team composes 34 specialists, led by Dr. Huwaida bint Obeid Al-Githami, Head of Heart Surgery Department at Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Center. This is the second visit of its kind by a Saudi medical team to Yemen following a three-week-long visit in 2005.
