Floods triggered by incessant heavy rains over the past two days inundated a number of villages in Aceh Jaya District, Aceh Province, on Thursday, ANTARA reported. The flooding had cut off land transportation connecting between the Aceh Jaya District capital of Calang and Banda Aceh for six hours. The worst-hit village was Medang Ghon, Jaya subdistrict, where tens of houses and around one kilometer-long road were submerged by floodwaters reaching a height of up to one meter. "Land transportation from Aceh Jaya to Banda Aceh was back to normal on Thursday at 3.30 am local time," Nanda, a resident of Aceh Jaya, said. The floods also affected Sampoiniet sub district.
