At least 18 people were injured Tuesday when a ride at a Swedish amusement park collapsed, police and local media said, according to dpa. The accident occurred at the Liseberg amusement park in the west-coast city of Gothenburg. Initial reports suggested that none of the 16 taken to hospitals in the city had sustained serious injuries. The cause of the accident was not known, but some witnesses said a section of the ride had collapsed. The ride has a capacity of 40 people and 36 people were on it when the accident occurred. Several people were treated for shock at the scene and a part of the amusement park was closed off to allow rescue workers access to the victims. The ride, known as Rainbow, was constructed in 1983.
