An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale shook the western Indonesian city of Banda Aceh and its environs on Friday but it caused no panic among local residents, ANTARA said. The undersea quake was centered 116 km southwest of Banda Aceh at a depth of 20 km, spokesperson for the local geophysics station Fina said. Aceh bore the brunt of a 8.9 magnitude earthquake and a subsequent tsunami on December 26, 2004 when more than 190,000 people perished. Fina said since early this month seven quakes measuring 5.7 to 6.0 on the Richter scale had hit the province.
