An undersea earthquake registering 6.4 on the Richter scale struck the eastern Indonesian islands close to East Timor on Saturday, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damages, the Indonesian seismological agency said. The quake struck at 10:12 am Jakarta time (0312 GMT) and its Epicenter was about 81 kilometers north-east of Dili, the capital of East Timor, an official at Indonesia's National Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said. The official, who identified himself only as Fadli, said the quake occurred about 10 kilometers beneath the seabed, according to a report of DPA.
