Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, the Chairman of the Iranian Expediency Discernment Council of the System has met in Tehran the former Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaffari to review the latest developments in Iraq. The Iranian news agency "IRNA" reported that Rafsanjani had expressed anxiety and concern over the current situation in Iraq. Underscoring the importance of preserving the unity of the Iraqi people, Rafsanjani said the Iraqi constitution could be a reference for organizing relations among the various Iraqi national and religious groups. Rafsanjani called for reforming the situation in Iraq through exerting intensive efforts by the effective and influential powers in the country.
